What have we been up to?

So I was looking through Blogs and I realized that I hadn't posted anything on here in a while. There are things on here from last year, which shows we're all busy and haven't been posting that often! So I thought I'd just post a few pictures of what we've been up to. Mostly we've been chasing Belle and Bernsie around, Belle is pretty active and it keeps me on my toes! I forgot what it was like to have a puppy. Bernsie turned 2 on Nov 14th. For the time being these are our "kids" so we can't help but talk a lot about them :) Other than that, I've been baking a lot. I've been experimenting with different things and taking most of the goodies to work and to friends so Jared and I don't get fat :) Other than that, we're just getting ready for our "reception" and we can't wait for Christmas! (p.s. the images got loaded onto the page backwards.. Belle jumped on the crate, got what she needed, and discovered Bernsie wanted it too!)

Water War I that is! It was a dark and stormy Memorial Day, and the Boardman family decided to stay home instead of attempting to travel with two potentially cranky children...
Along came a cooler overflowing with water balloons to try to cheer them up...
The Boardman family decided, "Well, since these water balloons are here, we might as well have a little fun with them."
So they launched a few across the yard, trying their best to hit the trampoline.
Then, Rachel shouted,"Ooo, I have a great idea!"
To which everyone else replied, "Quiet you! We don't want to hear your idea!" And that's when all heck broke loose!
Husband turned against wife, son turned against father...
Alliances were formed and alliances were broken.
There was even a suicide mission!
It didn't really end in suicide, but it was labeled a failed mission all the same.
One last stand, guns blazing, people dripping...
And, as quickly as it began, it was over.
Now, these enemies have banded together and they're coming after you!
And they're not afraid to get their feet dirty to get the job done.
Don't underestimate them, they have help behind the lines, even the innocent ones could be out to get you.
They may even try to disarm you by impersonating a drunken sailor!
And, at the end of the day, we'll see which side will be enjoying the spoils of war.

A traitor amongst us (sorry Matt!)

I don't know if everyone saw my status on Facebook so I thought I would post it here. On Friday, I was officially accepted to University of Michigan-Flint for the Master of Arts in Arts Administration program. I'm not sure if I told everyone the story of how I decided to apply for this program so here it goes. I think everyone is aware that I applied to and was rejected 4 times from voice performance programs at various universities around the country (one of them actually being the main campus of U of M, which is funny because even though I'm taking classes in Flint my degree will come from the Ann Arbor campus). I was pretty frustrated because I felt like I really needed to go to graduate school, but nothing seemed to be working out. Then, I was introduced to the idea of arts administration by a girl I sang with at the Utah Opera. I started looking into programs, but nothing I found really fit what I wanted to do. I ended up moving home from Utah after I finished performing in Macbeth and about a week later I happened upon this program, which had just been approved a week before I moved home, when I was on Facebook. So I went through the process of applying, but not without some reservations. It was hard for me to give up the dream I had of making a living off performing. However, in March I attended a YSA conference where we had to take a personality test. I found out that I am an ENFJ. On the sheet the guy doing the workshop gave to me it said that most people of my personality type most often go into occupations as administrators (among a few others listed). The next largest group of occupations is found in the arts. Right there was the confirmation I needed to help me realize this was the direction I needed to follow. I have to say I am extremely grateful to the Lord for His guidance in my life. I never would have come to this on my own and it definitely makes all those rejection letters a little less hurtful.
